Lowestoft Ladies I 4, Sevenoaks 3

LOWESTOFT Ladies were able to field their strongest side for the first time this season with coach Tom in full voice on the sideline.

However it was Sevenoaks who were first out of the blocks, despite the long journey from Kent, scoring from a short corner after two minutes. Lowestoft were quick to respond when on four minutes Hannah Pickess sent an excellent through ball to Kate TG who stepped round the Sevenoaks defence to cross the ball into the D for the incoming Nic Pollard who guided the ball home to draw level.

The game continued at a fast pace with both teams having chances until on 27 minutes Alex Bond converted a well worked penalty corner routine at the near post giving Lowestoft a 2-1 lead.

Lowestoft relaxed and allowed Sevenoaks to pile on the pressure and the visitors went in at half time 3-2 up.

Lowestoft came out fighting and levelled within minutes when Kate TG scored in the top right hand corner with a delightful drag flick. Lowestoft continued to dominate and went ahead after 10 minutes with Chloe McMorran thumping home a penalty corner.

The game continued at a rapid pace with Sevenoaks pushing for an equaliser but the Lowestoft defence held firm. With the visitors’ dominance Lowestoft were restricted to counter attacking hockey and narrowly missed wrapping the game up late in the game when Charlotte Holland intercepted a pass and drove to the goal line before crossing for Nic whose shot went agonisingly wide.

A great result for Lowestoft keeping them mid-table in the league.
