THE Journal is today offering four lucky people the chance to meet a former international footballer next month after teaming up with Kirkley & Pakefield Football Club.
K&P’s popular annual sportsman’s evening takes place on Friday, May 13 in a brand new marquee at the Walmer Road clubhouse - and it promises to be “a right Royal occasion!”.
The K&P Royals have organised another sell-out event for the tenth successive year - this time with former Liverpool and Denmark legend Jan Molby as special guest, alongside top comedian Jed Stone and Waveney MP Peter Aldous.
The midfield maestro started his senior playing career at Kolding FC where he became team captain at the age of 19, before joining AFC Ajax, where he won the Dutch Championship in 1983.
The then Liverpool manager Joe Fagan invited Molby to have a 10-day trial and finally signed him on August 22, 1984, making his debut three days later in a 3–3 league draw with Norwich City at Carrow Road - a team he went on to play for five times on loan in 1995.
While at Liverpool, he scored 62 goals – 42 of which were from penalties. Molby played 33 times for Denmark, and went into management at Swansea City, Kidderminster Harriers (two spells) and Hull City.
And today The Journal is offering TWO lucky prize-winners the opportunity to win a pair of tickets each to this sell-out bash.
The evening starts at 7pm for 7.30pm sit-down and runs until late - and you can join The Journal on a table for the evening, on the Barcelona FC table, as there are TWO pairs of tickets, worth £80 a pair, up for grabs.
Tickets include a four-course meal, wine and the opportunity to meet Molby. To win, send your answer to our question and your name, address, age and telephone number on a postcard/coupon to An Evening with Jan Molby Competition, The Journal, 147 London Road North, Lowestoft, Suffolk, NR32 1NB by 5pm on Tuesday, May 3. Or enter online at the Journal’s website at www.lowestoftjournal24.co.uk.
Normal Archant rules apply and winners will be notified, along with being published in The Journal on May 6 - a week before the sell-out show - but the winners must be over 18 along with their guests.
There will also be a memorabilia auction and raffles on the night, with signed special merchandise for all Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea, Cricket and Boxing fans.
