HISTORY beckons for Lowestoft Town FC as they embark on a crucial run-in, which will hopefully lead to them being crowned as Ryman League Division One North champions.

And The Blues could even be set for a crowning glory in front of their fantastic fans over Easter.

If results go their way, Lowestoft could wrap up the Ryman League title at Crown Meadow as early as Monday.

Tomorrow, they host struggling Redbridge before entertaining Maldon on Monday. Two wins and a defeat for nearest rivals Concord Rangers at the hands of third-placed Wingate & Finchley or fourth-placed East Thurrock United over the Easter period will seal a second successive championship for the Blues.

And even if Rangers win their remaining games, Town could still be crowned champions with three victories in the next eight days.

With the final seven games to be played in the space of 21 days in store for The Blues, just the nine points are needed from a possible 21 - with five home games and two away matches to come in a hectic end to the campaign.

And with silverware in sight, The Blues are hoping to be presented with the league champion trophy at their last home game of the season on Saturday, April 24 at home to Tilbury - when they also hope to unveil a new home and away kit for next season.

With the aim of Micky Chapman and Ady Gallagher's men to win the league, and achieve back-to-back promotions, this honour would mark yet another new chapter in the club's history-books in what has been a trophy-laden recent past.

And yesterday, chairman Gary Keyzor exclusively told The Journal that both he and his hard-working off the field team are already planning ahead for the future.

'After much hard work by my fantastic committee, along with our hard working groundsman David Page and his merry band of volunteers, we were successful last Friday in achieving a 'D' ground grade, which allows us to continue at level four (Ryman Division One North) and also play at level three (Ryman Premier) should we be successful with promotion up the non league pyramid.,' Keyzor said.

'All that is needed to achieve the 'C' grade, which will allow us to play as high as level two (Blue Square North or South) is add an extra turnstile and ensure that the pitch perimeter fence is a minimum of 1.1 metre high.

'This is already underway,' he revealed. And we should achieve the halfway marker within the next few days.'

Keyzor also added that as part of the ground alterations, Lowestoft hope to have a 'new, bigger and better club shop' up and running with lots of new Lowestoft Town merchandise in readiness for next season.
