DARTS: Team's three in succession

THE grand finale returned once again to the Ocean Rooms for the Lowestoft Festival Darts League presentation night, 2009/2010 season.

With about 200 people in attendance, chairman Paul Weavers opened proceedings thanking the Ocean Room staff on an outstanding meal.

With about 200 people in attendance, chairman Paul Weavers opened proceedings thanking the Ocean Room staff on an outstanding meal. Thanks were also given to all league officers and helpers for all their hard work through out the season.

Colin Smith, in his second year as league president also thanked the league officers for their part in a successful season.

With an outstanding array of trophies, and president Colin Smith presenting, secretary Dave Tasker started the presentation. For the eleventh time in 12 years and third in a row the Ex-Servicemen's HG received the Division One League Cup, with captain A Whitehead picking up the trophy. The Frank Jones Memorial Cup for Division Two champions was received by the Hearts of Oak C captain W Hill. The Division Three Cup was received by A Aldridge captain of the Ole Frank B.

The Marquis of Lorne A captain G Pavey picked up the Eric Goreham Memorial League KO Cup.

The Barry Moore Memorial Shield was picked up by the TAVR captain G Cochrane who also picked up the third place Division Three Cup.

For the first time in five years a new name was placed on the Singles Cup, K Self from the Lake Lothing A received this trophy. Doubles was once again received by A Whitehead and A Honeyman from the Ex-Servicemen's HG their fourth in a row. The Trebles Cup was received by B Dale, RB Dale and W Weavers from the Hearts of Oak D. Along with their Doubles Cup, A Honeyman picked up the Secretaries Cup and A Whitehead the Captains Cup. The Chairman's Cup was presented to C Wilson from the Uplands CC C.

The Ken Preece Over 60's Veterans Trophy was presented to G Hook from the Ex-Servicemen's E, and the Under 21's Cup was presented to D Bullion from the Havelock.

With the presentation nearly concluded secretary Dave Tasker thanked everyone in attendance, and gave the floor back to president Colin Smith. Colin then gave a short but poignant speech. After 12 years of being league chairman Paul Weavers was standing down, Colin and Dave then presented Paul an engraved tankard and thanked him for his hard work and loyalty in his time as league chairman.

With the presentation concluded the league secretary thanked fellow officers, the entertainment for the night was Tony Storey with his Rock and Roll and Blues Brothers Show.
