TUESDAY evening's visit to Concord Rangers proved to be a night to forget as the Blues crashed to their heaviest defeat of the season.

Concord went into the game on the back of nine consecutive wins, which had propelled them up to second place in the table and they were brim full of confidence. After conceding a goal inside the opening two minutes the Blues saw Adam Smith slide into the pitch perimeter barrier moments later.

As play continued the Blues defender lay prone just off the pitch awaiting the arrival of the paramedics and it was some 30 minutes before he was able to get to his feet and helped back to the dressing rooms. This incident seemed to affect the Blues concentration and they seemed to lose their appetite for the game as they produced their poorest display of the season.

Early heavy rain on Saturday ruled out the Blues home game against another of the promotion contenders Enfield Town. This game has now been rearranged for Tuesday, April 13.

Yesterday (Thursday) the Blues faced the long trek down to play Croydon Athletic in the Championship Manager Cup quarter final. Croydon had moved to the top of Division One South after previous leaders Folkestone Invicta had been deducted 10 points for going into a CVA.

Tomorrow sees the Blues face their third away trip of the week with a visit to Gt Wakering Rovers. Next week is also a busy week for the Blues with Brentwood Town at the Meadow on Tuesday followed by a trip to Tilbury on Thursday.

The Reserves Chell Trophy tie away to Braintree Town reserves was again postponed on Saturday and has now been redated for Saturday, March 20. The Reserves did manage to get back to action on Tuesday evening with a 5-0 victory over Diss Town Reserves. Jack Garrod and Joe Clark hit two goals each with Chris Bond converting a penalty. Tomorrow the Reserves are at home to Ipswich Wanderers Reserves in the semi final of the Suffolk Senior Reserve Team Cup.

The Youth team are also suffering from postponements with last week's game against Gt Yarmouth Town Youth postponed but they were hopeful of returning to action on Wednesday with a home game against Cromer Town Youth. Next Wednesday they have a top of the table clash with Dereham Town Youth at the Meadow.
