QUINTON Fortune may have spoiled Roy Keane's day when notching a late equaliser in the 3-3 draw at Doncaster Rovers, but he is backing his former team mate to be a success with Ipswich Town.

Fortune admitted that he was as surprised as anyone when his speculative 84th minute shot sailed over the head of Richard Wright and into the net.

And he added: “It was just paper talk when I was linked with a move to Ipswich in the summer.

“But I would have loved to have come.

“I would love to be working with Roy Keane. I have so much respect for him from our Manchester United days and have only admiration for a great man.

“If anybody can bring success to Ipswich it is Roy.“

And talking about his goal he added: “I truthfully expected the shot to go into the stand.

“I did score a goal in training the other week - they are so rare I can even remember them - but can't remember a competitive goal since my Old Trafford days.

“There was nothing to lose and I tried my luck, and for once it worked out.”
