KIRKLEY made it three wins in succession as they returned to fourth place in the Ridgeons Premier League after a hard-fought win over the Fenmen.

Chris Henderson's stunning late volley sealed the points (pictured) after a topsy-turvy second half, which saw four goals scored as K&P were pegged back by a resilient Wisbech side.

The Royals led 1-0 at the interval as man of the match Joe Jefford got on the end of Andy Key's free kick to stretch at the far post and turn the ball home on 20 minutes.

But despite looking largely comfortable in the first half, K&P were made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal as a change of formation by the visitors in the second half led to another central defender equalising as Cousins converted after a corner wasn't cleared.

K&P responded with the lively front two of Russell Stock and Nathan Stone combining for the latter to beat two defenders and fire in a deflected second.

But once again the home side switched off at a corner as Cousins headed home again with ten minutes remaining. With Stock off the pitch, and five in midfield, the management made another tactical switch and it worked wonders late on with the goal of the game.

Substitue Liam Harvey-Cooper flicked on a clearance and found the marauding Stone in the right hand channel. He beat his man and reached the edge of the penalty area before looking up and superbly crossing with the outside of his right boot to the onrushing Henderson who volleyed home in the six yard box to send the home fans, players and management into delirium with what proved to be the winner.

K&P: R Woodcock, A Key, T Grint, J Jefford, J Cole, C Henderson, S Manning, S Martin, R De Coteau, R Stock, N Stone. Subs: I Dawson, L Harvey-Cooper, A Boggis.

Attendance: 132.
