Former Norwich City player Robert Eagle is to be offered a permanent deal with Terry Butcher's Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Eagle, released by Bryan Gunn this summer, has been on trial and played in the friendly wins over Buckie Thistle and Elgin City, when he was on the scoresheet.

The 22-year-old returned to Norfolk but Butcher said he was keen to bring him back.

“Robert Eagle is going back to Norwich, which is something we had already agreed, although it's a bit disappointing at the same time because he's done very well for us,” he said.

“However, we'll speak to him and his agent to find out what the score is and then take it from there.

“I would certainly hope to conclude a deal for Robert, but we'll see.

I don't think there would be a lot to work out.

“He's very keen to come to the club because Inverness is a bit like Norwich in that it's very much in a world of its own, but he enjoyed his time and that's the most pleasing aspect.”
