Ipswich ace visits centre

THERE was a very special treat for aspiring young footballers as a former Ipswich Town favourite and a current Blues star descended on Lowestoft.

The ITFC Development Centre, based at Kirkley High School in Lowestoft, welcomed former Ipswich midfielder Simon Milton and current starlet Danny Haynes last Friday.

The ITFC Development Centre, based at Kirkley High School in Lowestoft, welcomed former Ipswich midfielder Simon Milton and current starlet Danny Haynes last Friday.

Milton, who is the Tractor Boys' Academy Sponsorship Manager after playing more than 200 times for the Portman Road club, was at the Lowestoft centre along with Town striker Haynes to meet the local youngsters.

An Ipswich Town spokesman said: “Danny Haynes visited the Ipswich Development Centre in Kirkley High School, and the event was designed to give the young players the chance to meet him and to welcome the centre's new sponsor, Global ES, on board.”

With five ITFC Development Centres around Suffolk, which are designed to develop the skills and techniques of young footballers at the U9 to U12 age groups.

“The young lads are encouraged to try, learn about and constantly practice as many techniques as possible in the sort of environment, which will produce the right type of player and just as importantly the right characters,” the Town spokesman added.

Training sessions take place every Friday night at the Lowestoft Development Centre at Kirkley High School.
