IT attracted a raft of entries as the youth element of Kirkley and Pakefield FC really entered into the spirit of things.

A competition to come up with a new official scarf that could be used by the whole club led to a deluge of entries - and a closely-fought contest, which eventually led to two prizes being awarded this week.

And prior to the eagerly-awaited north Suffolk derby between K&P and Leiston at Walmer Road on Wednesday night, first-teamers Joe Jefford and Ian Dawson handed out the prizes to the two talented young footballeras and aspiring artists.

The winner was Jordan Chalk from the U13A team, with the runner-up - and a close second - going to Jack Howes.

And with the youngsters' respective managers from the U13A team and the U7 Titans also present, the awards presentation was hailed as a success - a view shared by the organisers.

With Jordan and his teammates winning �250 in goods or team-wear, Jack Howes and his team collected �100.

And delighted with the entries, commercial manager Dave Woodruff said the judges had a tough task to pick the winners - but now they have a new logo and scarf, which will allow them to produce new club merchandise.

'The crown and design all originated from a 12-year-old, which is fantastic,' Woodruff said. 'We are delighted with the results.'
