The league champions, who have won promotion to the Ryman League Division One North, have been in talks with the Walmer Road club in recent days.

And a spokesman for The Royals confirmed this week that Stone looked set to join The Market Men.

A week after Needham manager Danny Laws expressed his delight at landing Sam Newson, the Ridgeons League's leading scorer last season, they could unveil a new-look strikeforce for their Ryman League campaign.

Newson plundered 34 Premier Division goals for Stanway Rovers last season - and he looks set to be joined by Stone, who hit 14 league goals in 34 games for K&P last season and 16 goals in 33 league games for The Royals in 2008-9.
