THE suggestions are continuing to flood in as Kirkley & Pakefield FC's “name game” search has attracted a whole host of rentries.

Since the Ridgeons Premier League Premier Division outfit launched their appeal with a difference a fortnight ago, 13 marvellous monikers now remain for the club to decide upon.

“From over 30 names we have eliminated the outrageous, sublime and ridiculous and are left with 13 possible terrace names,” K&P's commercial manager Dave Woodruff told the Journal yesterday.

After calling on the help of Journal readers, a number of entries were received and these have all been devised into a shortlist.

From the shortlist winning name will be chosen within the next fortnight.

The list of 13 new nicknames is: The Ferrets (as the only ferret company throughout East Anglia is based in Pakefield), The Brittens (Brits), The Sunrisers, The Kirks, The Petos, The Paccas, The Longshoremen, The Kippers, The Gulls, The Riggers, The Poachers, The Beach Boys and finally The K&P Oilers.

“Despite this, we are still open to further suggestions,” Woodruff added.

“We will try and reach a democratic consensus (at a club committee meeting and with the support of The Journal) in the next two weeks.”

Check out our poll on the home page to pick out your favourite K&P nickname.
