KIRKLEY and Pakefield slipped to their second successive narrow league reverse as Woodbridge Town picked up three much needed points in their battle to avoid relegation from the Ridgeons Premier Division.

The home team deserved their victory against their out-of-sorts second-placed visitors thanks to Paul Hart's first half penalty. Hart and the outstanding Aaron Churchyard both went close twice in the opening five minutes before Robert Woodcock saved Churchyard's effort.

K&P striker Michael Tacon saw his goalbound shot blocked and Gary Rose kicked over Chris Henderson's rising drive before Allicion Blake's header was cleared off the line as K&P threatened.

Woodbridge took the lead in the 43rd minute when Churchyard's driving run ended with Woodcock's holding down Glenn Snell as they both went for the loose ball and Hart tucked away the resultant penalty.

Kirkley's only clear cut chance of the second period fell to Tacon who lifted his shot over the advancing Rose and also the bar as Woodbridge held out.
