ROY Keane has sounded out the possibility of signing Trinidad & Tobago international Carlos Edwards and Irish striker Daryl Murphy.

Keane is also still on the trail of Sunderland defender Paul McShane, and would have no hesitation in talking all three from the Black Cats.

The Ipswich Town boss has been knocked back in his attempt to land Stoke full back Danny Higginbotham, who understandably wants to stay with the Potters in the Premier League, but the arrival of Steve Bruce at the Stadium of Light could make it easier to prise away Edwards, Murphy and McShane.

Keane signed Edwards from Luton Town on the recommendation of fellow T&T international Dwight Yorke for 1.5m in January 2007 and he made an instant impression as the Black Cats won promotion.

This season though Edwards started the campaign on loan at Championship winners Wolves before being recalled in November.

Murphy was inherited by Keane, has been mainly coming off the bench for Sunderland and is out of contract at the end of the month.
