IPSWICH Town are on the verge of a double signing over the next 48 hours.

IPSWICH Town are on the verge of a double signing over the next 48 hours.

Following a 2-1 defeat in Ireland to Finn Harps last night, manager Roy Keane said: “We have agreed a price with two players who I hope to meet in the next 48 hours.

“One of them is Irish, but it doesn't matter where they are from.”

But the Town boss seemed to rule out the possibility of the signings being Paul McShane and Daryl Murphy when he said: “They are players who did very, very well for me at Sunderland but I can't keep going back to one or two I have worked with.

“It's going to be difficult to get one or two out of the Premier League because of the prices and wages so there is lots to consider.

“At Sunderland I spent about £6m when I first arrived. If I can spend about £6m here and get this team promoted I'll be very pleased.

“There is also the option of one or two loan players.”

Speaking on the loss against Finn Harps - his first defeat as Ipswich manager - Keane said: “I have always enjoyed coming to Ireland. Finn Harps did well, they did exactly what I expected them to do, and they showed very good fitness levels.

“I learned a lot about one or two of my players. I am taking stock very quickly of what we have and what we don't have.”
