KIRKLEY and Pakefield FC are gearing up for the new Eastern Counties Thurlow Nunn League season with a series of pre-season games, starting next Saturday, July 14.

With the club now back in training, the Royals have lined up some tough pre-season friendlies ahead of the new league campaign, which starts on August 4.

And K&P’s pre-season campaign kicks off next Saturday against Ipswich Town’s stars of the future when the under-18 academy side visit Walmer Road.

The match commences at noon, and club officials have called on locals to turn out and watch “Ipswich’s stars of the future.”

Last week, The Journal reported how former Lowestoft Town favourite Ross King has joined Paul Tong’s men – and on Tuesday, July 17 he is likely to line-up against his former colleagues from the Crown Meadow as K&P take on Lowestoft Town at Walmer Road.

A club spokesman said: “This match will be a fund-raiser for Owen’s Wish2Walk appeal, as we welcome our friends from north of the town Lowestoft Town.”

Cost for this game is £6 adults, concessions £4, children £2, for the game which kicks off at 7.45pm.

The club spokesman added: “We are donating £1 from every adult ticket to the Owen Baldry charity and we are hoping Owen and his parents can be in attendance.”

Other friendlies: July 21 Kirkley & Pakefield v Needham Market, July 24 Framlingham Town v Kirkley & Pakefield, July 28 Kirkley & Pakefield v Wroxham, August 1 Great Yarmouth Town v Kirkley & Pakefield .
