THE new Notley's Lowestoft and District League season kicks off tomorrow (August 27) with one match in Division Three.

The popular three division league this year boasts 42 teams, with 14 sides battling it out in each division. And the first full calendar weekend of fixtures takes place next Saturday, September 3.

With just one team relegated from Division One – Corton Seltic – three teams have been promoted into the top flight from Division Two – champions and KO cup winners DK Consultants, along with Hopton and Mutford and Wrentham – who finished second and third repectively in the second division last season.

This means that there will be plenty of competitive action in Division One, with Oxford Arms – who only lost two league games last season in winning the title by 13 points – likely to face strong challenges from former champions Hearts of Oak and Norton, while new-boys DK Consultants will be one to look out for.

Six new sides start this season in Division Two after the three teams were promoted to the top flight, while Lowestoft International have pulled out from the league and Telecom Rovers and Ellingham were relegated to Division Three.

The new teams in the second division are made up of five of the top six in last season's third division – champions FC Eastport, Mutford and Wrentham Reserves, Kirkley and Pakefield B, Royal Oak (now named Royal Falcon) and Harleston Town Reserves. They are joined by Corton Seltic, who were relegated from the top flight.

Four new teams have been affiliated to the Lowestoft and District League this season, and they start the new campaign in Division Three. They are Lord Nelson, Great Yarmouth Town Hall Reserves, Earsham Reserves and Gunton United. Joining these four teams in the third division are Telecom United and Ellingham Reserves, who were relegated from division two, in making up the full 14-team league capacity.

The first game tomorrow takes place in Notley's Lowestoft & District Saturday League division three (kick off 2pm) as the league's new-boys Earsham Reserves host Oxford Arms Reserves at Earsham (referee S Yallop). The full league season commences on September 3, with the first week's fixtures included below.
