THERE was more good news for the town's top two football teams as they maintained their first and second places in the Ridgeons League Premier Division following wins on Saturday.

League leaders Lowestoft continued their fine run to build up a ten-point gap at the top after they beat fifth placed Tiptree 2-0, with both their goals coming in the second half.

Jamie Godbold, who had missed a good opportunity in the first half, made no mistake on 63 minutes to put the Blues in front.

The hosts finally made the points safe in injury time when Godbold set up Ali McKenna to double the advantage.

There was an explosive encounter at Needham Market as K&P had manager Nick Shorten and skipper Justin Fox sent off in the first half and Needham's Mark Bailey was also sent to the dressing room.

But K&P triumphed 2-1 with goals from keeper Robert Woodcock - from the penalty spot - and striker Allicion Blake. Thrower scored for the home side in the second half, but K&P held on to maintain second place and stay five points ahead of third-placed Dereham.
