CHAMPIONS Lowestoft Town FC can lay claim to being the best team in the country according to a set of new statistics.
In a week where the super Blues were crowned Ryman League Division One North champions, with a 5-1 romp over Cheshunt, The Journal can today reveal that Lowestoft's league-winning record is the best in the land as they leave the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United in their wake.
The latest league tables for all teams between levels one and eight have Lowestoft at the top of the tree - as they average the most points per game.
As of April 10, Lowestoft averaged 2.47 points per game, with their record of 94 points from 38 games played. This places them 0.4 points ahead of nearest rivals Newport County - with Premier League leaders Chelsea in tenth, Manchester United 13th, Norwich City 21st and Ipswich 213th.

And even a midweek goalless draw with Enfield - which means The Blues now boast a record of 95 points from 39 league games at an average of 2.44 points per game - keeps them in pole position at the top of the nationwide league.
Lowestoft are also the only club in the top eight levels to have scored more than 100 goals, and with the aim of back-to-back promotions they are hoping to seal the title in style by reaching 100 points in the league campaign for the second successive year - provided they can pick up five points in their last three games.

Proving to be in a league of their own, for proud Trawler Boy fan Paul Whitlow, this is an 'amazing' set of statistics. 'It is really a great record, and proves we are really up there with the big boys,' he said.
And for delighted chairman Gary Keyzor, it has been a real team effort on and off the field to ensure the success continues. As The Blues look ahead to promotion to the next level, a proud Keyzor said: 'It has been suggested in various papers and websites that Lowestoft Town FC has been bank rolled to success - well this is not the case as our success is collective from the fantastic attendances, the revenue from the club shop and social club and having the support from our main four sponsors and every other business and individual that has sponsored the club throughout the season - whether it be ground advertising, programme advertising, match or matchball sponsorship.
'All of these have brought in the revenue to assist with the club's ongoing success. However none of this would be possible without the hard work of our sales and marketing girls who work tirelessly to ensure that every sponsorship opportunity is taken up,' he added.
'Looking ahead I believe that we already have some new and existing local companies already knocking on the door wanting to do their bit for next season.'
