COACH Craig Fleming praised an 'awesome' performance from Lowestoft Town as they booked their place in the first round proper of the FA Cup last night.

More than 2,200 fans packed into Crown Meadow to witness a 4-2 victory over Gloucester City and see the brilliant Blues book a tie with Wrexham in Wales on November 7.

Town scorched into a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes through Matt Nolan and Scott Mitchell.

They were pegged back to 2-1 before half time, but some strong words from the likes of Fleming and joint managers Mick Chapman and Ady Gallagher inspired Town to victory thanks to an Andrew Fisk double.

"I'm totally delighted," said Fleming. "I thought over the two games we totally deserved it to be honest. We were full value.

"I had a little go at them at half time. The first five or ten minutes we were a little bit off it to be honest, but then we got into our stride and they were awesome from then on in.

"It was a little bit of ill-discipline, we got caught chasing the game. It was a little bit soft.

"We just said do what you've been doing. More of the same. We've got some good players and we play at a good tempo and with a good passion for the game we take some stopping at this level."

And Fleming believes his players are good enough to go to Wrexham and cause a shock against Dean Saunders side from the Conference.

"I can't speak highly enough of our players," he said. "They've got grit, determination and passion in abundance. It didn't surprise me that they stood up and everything they threw at us we coped with.

"Yeah, damn right. Because of where we are in the country if a lot of these boys were in the north west a lot of them would be playing professional football in my opinion. There are some good players in there.

"They can do whatever they want if they show that appetite. It's important we realise what's got us these results and it's that appetite and determination and hunger and being horrible to play against."

"It means everything to everybody. It's Mick Chapman, Ady Gallagher, myself, Dave Carolan , the chairman the fans, everybody and the club throughout deserves it to be honest with you."
