Lowestoft contingent take on big challenge at Grafham Water

On a pleasant sunny morning hundreds of people gathered for the start of the Grafham Water middle distance triathlon.

Seven athletes from Lowestoft and Lowestoft Road Runners were amongst the crowd hoping to finish this onerous challenge.

First home for the club was Paul Lyon completing his first long triathlon in 39th place (11th in age) in an impressive four hours 27 minutes 32 seconds (swim 17.24, bike 2:42, run 1:23).

Oliver Gardiner finished in a quick-fire 4:49.25 (14.17/2.37/1:53) to finish 119th place (fourth in age). Tom Collier put in an impressive time of 4:58.20 for 156th place (15.57/2:46/1:51).

Karen Archbold posted a time of 5:44.16 (finishing 47th lady and eighth in age, 19.47, 3:16 and 2.00. Simon Bunting finished soon after in 5.53 in 364th place (16.31/3:18/2:06).

Jonathan Meadows finished in 5.59 in 377th place and Louise Bernasconi completed her first long triathlon in 6.02.14 as the 60th place lady.
