JAMIE Godbold says Lowestoft Town have got the right recipe to keep heading up the leagues after the most successful season in the club's history.

The popular skipper was the first to get his hands on the Ryman League Division One North trophy at Crown Meadow on Saturday after leading the Blues to a 3-0 win over Tilbury to cap a sensational campaign.

Goals from Dale Cockrill, Gary McGee, on his 400th appearance for the club, and leading scorer Matt Nolan, added the finishing touches to a brilliant season for all concerned at the club.

And Godbold insisted the Trawler Boys are not finished yet as he revealed the secret of the Town success.

“A mixture really,” he said.

“Great team spirit, good management, good players and fantastic support and that mixed all together you're bound to be onto a good thing.

“Being here ten years and winning leagues and going to Wembley and winning the league last year and then this year is fantastic. “The way the club is structured at the moment we'll just keep on plodding up the leagues and see how we get on.”

The midfielder has been an integral part of the Blues' march to glory this season and explained his pride at being part of the club.

“Another trophy, another successful season for myself and Lowestoft Town Football Club,” he said.

“I'm very proud to be part of it and to be skipper of a fantastic team and it's onwards and upwards.

“It was a perfect day for a party. We had to work hard but we wanted to go out with a bang and put on a performance for the crowd that turned up.

“A good performance and 101 points and the end of a great season.”
