Lowestoft Town turned in an impressive display in their penultimate Norfolk Alliance Division One match of the season to dent Dereham’s promotion hopes.

Tom Brice’s side won by 21 runs at the Denes Oval to maintain their strong finish.

A second wicket partnership of 119 between Brice (85) and Nathan Garrod (54) helped Lowestoft reach 218 after being asked to bat first. Josh McAvoy (34) and Craig Guy (20) added useful runs down the order while Soren Gauntlett took 4-35.

In reply the visitors slipped to 75-5 and although a partnership of 61 between Liam Cameron (61 not out) and Jake Anema (26) gave them hope they finished in 197-9.

Lowestoft finish their campaign at Diss tomorrow (12.30pm).

Lowestoft A, who host Old Catton, made 260-3 at Mattishall A and then bowled them out for 116. Peter Sims (85 not out), Elliott Goerge (84) and David Brown (66) were in the runs.
