Lowestoft Railway Ladies II 1 Norwich City 3
The rain held off long enough for Norwich City 5 to take on Railway at East Point Academy on Saturday.
The play was equal for most of the first half with both teams finding their way into the D, but both unable to convert for a goal. Lily Palmer put in a superb run up front for the home team, which the City goalkeeper saved. Olivia Smith worked the left wing tirelessly causing grief for the city defenders.
A sudden break by City saw them power into the Railway defence and a clearance by Railway keeper Beckie Edmeades was picked up by a City forward and a clumsy shot found its way between Edmeades legs to take the visitors 1-0 up. City rallied from this and another goal followed in short succession.
Railway tried to reorganise at half-time and they managed to pull a goal back thanks to Wood’s excellent strike.
Sensing the possibility of a draw the Railway side pushed high but they were caught on the break late on to complete the scoring.
