Lowestoft Town boss Dale Brooks admits he would love to extend Matt Foy’s loan spell at the Amber Dew Events Stadium.

Foy initially signed on a month’s loan from Cambridge United in November, meaning Saturday afternoon’s clash against Enfield Town could potentially be his last for the Trawlerboys.

However, following Foy’s brace at Tooting & Mitcham last weekend, Brooks is planning discussions with the Cambridge management to extend the striker’s stay at Lowestoft.

“Matty has done really well for us,” he said. “Even in the games he hasn’t scored in, he’s had an impact so we’re really pleased with him.

“Obviously it’s in the hands of his parent club but I will have a chat with Matt and with Cambridge to see if we can extend it.”

Shaun Bammant was also at the double last weekend and Brooks is likely to turn to the former Dereham man once again alongside Foy in the absence of Jake Reed, who will serve the last of a three-match ban. Bammant is managing an Achilles problem that has dogged his season so far but Brooks hopes he can nurse the big forward through to the end of the campaign.

“We just need to manage Shaun the best we can,” he said. “He does a great job for the side and thoroughly deserved his two goals. But we know we can’t push it too much and we just need to be careful. Hopefully we can get him through.”

It was announced in the week that Josh Greenleaf had left the club by mutual consent and Brooks wished the striker well.

“Josh was down the pecking order but he also had a change in circumstances in that he’s got a new job in London so it was best for him to move on,” he said.

Lowestoft will be boosted by the returns of Travis Cole and Andrew Fisk with the pair available after suspension.

However, Rossi Jarvis remains sidelined whilst Adam Smith is also a doubt after missing the win in south London last weekend.

Enfield are currently 17th in the Bostik Premier Division but did pull off a surprise by beating league leaders Dulwich Hamlet earlier this month. Goals from Simon Thomas, Ryan Blackman and Ben Ward-Cochrane inflicted Dulwich’s first away defeat of the season.
