LOWESTOFT Town gained revenge for a first day of the season defeat with a hard worked two-wicket win over Acle.

This was despite an opening blitz by Acle's Handley. Peter Sims and Marcus Bishop also impressed with miserly spells.

With the bat a 74 run stand between Nathan Garrod, 47, and Karl Storey, 23, was the mainstay of Town's reply. Finally young Billy Brice got Town over the line with two wickets to spare with 11 not out.

The A team stay top of Lucas Fettes Norfolk League Division Five after a 24-run victory over Aylsham SG. They made 149-9 after batting first and dismissed Aylsham for 125 to pick up 24 points.

The B team missed out on any action after their game at Rocklands A fell victim to the weather without a ball being bowled.

On Sunday, against Burgh from Lincolnshire, the opponents made 179. P Richardson took 4-41 for Lowestoft, with G Mansbridge 3-15 and newcomer 13 year old James - in his first ever game - taking 2-37.

In reply, Town made 143-6 as both E Reynolds and K Storey made 29.

Tomorrow, Lowestoft's first team are at Topcroft away, the A team play Vauxhall Mallards B at home, while the B team are also at home at Normanston Park against Aldborough A.

On Sunday Town entertain Rackhreath at home, 2pm, play Eye Academy away, while the U17 team are also in action against Great Melton away.

Next Tuesday touring side Old Parkonians will be visiting the Oval, 2PM start.
