Dale Brooks has resigned as manager of troubled Lowestoft Town.

The Trawlerboys released a statement on Tuesday evening confirming his departure.

“Lowestoft Town FC can confirm this evening that first team manager Dale Brooks has handed in his resignation to the board of directors of the club, and leaves his post with immediate effect.

“The club will be starting the search for his successor immediately.”

Brooks – a former coach in Norwich City’s academy set-up – joined Lowestoft in October 2015 as assistant to then manager Ady Gallagher, taking over in November last year when Gallagher stepped down.

The club revealed its financial problems in March, which led to the departure of some of Brooks’ key players and he performed a minor miracle in steering them away from relegation from the Bostik Premier Division.

However, the legacy had left the club with just a few players and, now, without a manager.
