Lowestoft triumph by three wickets

LOWESTOFT eased clear of danger at the bottom of the Norfolk Cricket Alliance Premier Division with a nervy three-wicket success at home to North Runcton.

LOWESTOFT eased clear of danger at the bottom of the Norfolk Cricket Alliance Premier Division with a nervy three-wicket success at home to North Runcton.

Runcton were bowled out for 122 and although Clint Burkenshaw claimed four for 27 in the Lowestoft reply, the hosts edged past that score to claim a crucial victory.

In Division Three, former Norfolk bowler Ian Slegg starred with the bat as Fakenham claimed a winning draw at Kirkley & Lowestoft Railway.

Slegg hit 79, while Kirkley's Craig Guy collected four for 48.

Joe Larter fired 104no for Division Six leaders Lowestoft A, but they slipped to a surprise three-wicket defeat at bottom club Mundford A.

Elsewhere, in the Lucas Fettes Norfolk League, Kirkley and Lowestoft Railway A lost by seven wickets to Costessey in Division Three, after they were skittled out for 65.
