AS Lowestoft Town FC continue their preparations for another new league campaign - this time in the Ryman League Premier Division - The Blues have swooped on one of their Suffolk rivals for their first signing of the summer.

With their first pre-season game just over a month away, “pacy defender” Curtis Haynes-Brown has become Lowestoft's first capture after he signed a two-year contract with The Blues last Saturday afternoon.

His acquisition comes a week after The Journal revealed that the management team of Micky Chapman, Ady Gallagher and Craig Fleming were working hard to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign - and this is likely to continue in forthcoming weeks.

Speculation surrounding Haynes-Brown's signing emerged late last Friday, after AFC Sudbury announced that their “talented full-back” was poised to move up to last season's Ryman Division One North champions Lowestoft.

And within a matter of hours, the 21-year-old had become Lowestoft's first new-recruit after signing on the dotted line for the go-ahead Blues.

Pleased to announce his signing this week, a Blues spokesman said: “Pacy defender Curtis Haynes-Brown has agreed a two-year contract and will join up with his new team mates at pre-season training.

“Curtis joins us from AFC Sudbury, where he has spent the last two seasons, and prior to that he had spent seven years at Colchester United.”

Off-the-field, Lowestoft also announced this week that they have had to make some changes to their planned pre-season friendlies. This comes after the Blue Square Bet Football Conference changed their season start date, and Cambridge United re-scheduled their pre-season programme.

The revised pre-season schedule now means that Lowestoft's first game on Saturday, July 10 is still to be confirmed ahead of the following games: Wednesday, July 14 away to Great Yarmouth Town, Saturday, July 17 home to Braintree Town, Wednesday, July 21 home to Colchester United, Saturday, July 24 home to Cambridge United, Saturday, July 31 away to Biggleswade Town, Saturday, August 7 away to Enfield Town, Tuesday, August 10 away to Needham Market and Saturday, August 14 away to AFC Sudbury.
