AFTER suffering mixed fortunes in the FA Vase, there was a similar story for the town's top two football teams in the Ridgeons League on Tuesday night.

For Lowestoft Town again went nap against Needham Market, winning 5-1, while Kirkley and Pakefield slipped to their second defeat in three days following a fine recent run as they lost 2-0 at Norwich United.

League leaders Lowestoft included new signing and former Blue Damien Hilton in their line-up as he started up front but moved to centre half following an injury to Marcus Saunders.

The Blues took the lead in the 24th minute when following a long throw Richard Woodrow volleyed home from 20 yards. Right on the half time whistle the Blues doubled their lead when Reece Hunn scored.

Woodrow scored his second and Lowestoft's third in the 61st minute when he converted a penalty after Bradley Hough had been fouled.

Hough made it 4-0 a minute later, before striker Gary McGee was fouled in the penalty area in the 81st minute and he subsequently converted the penalty for 5-0 nil. Parker scored a late consolation goal for Needham in the 90th minute.

At Plantation Park, Norwich United held firm to inflict a defeat on an out-of-sorts K&P side.

The home team took the lead after just six minutes with a goal from Shaun Bammant.

Liam Harvey-Cooper's shot hit the top of the bar and Steve Shipley scrambled the ball clear from near the goal line from the resultant corner as K&P looked to get back in the game.

And despite pinning Norwich back into their own half for long periods of the second half, former K&P keeper, Nathan Pauling twice denied Justin Fox and Chris Henderson.

Norwich made the points safe in the 93rd minute when substitute Keith Hetherington scored.
