Lowestoft & Yarmouth held hosts Ely to 15-10 at half-time before sliding to a 48-17 defeat in their final match of the London 3NE season.

Airidas Savickas and Chris Burt both touched down for L&Y while Tom Dare weighed in with a couple of conversions and a penalty.

The defeat was the team’s 18th in 20 matches and left them second from bottom in the table, 13 points below West Norfolk.

It seems likely that L&Y will be playing in a new-look London Three (Eastern Counties) League next season which will bring in a regionalised structure which will see various Norfolk and Suffolk teams join the top six in Eastern Counties One in a new set-up

The goal is to cut down travelling distances and thus retain and attract players to their local clubs while eliminating the risk of teams failing to play their away games, as has happened on a number of occasions this season. There will be a parallel league for Essex.
