Seven names are set for a gun-slinging showdown at Fortress Walmer Road to decide what should be the new terrace name for Kirkley & Pakefield FC.

As the Name Game search draws to a close, The Journal is today printing a ballot form consisting of the final shortlist, which due to popular demand has been extended.

Ever since The Journal teamed up with the Ridgeons League Premier Division outfit in September to search for a marvellous moniker that their fans could shout out from the stands at Walmer Road “the Name Game” search had attracted more than 30 entries to date.

Hundred of supporters had already made their thoughts known via a special poll on the Journal's website, www.lowestoftjournal24.co.uk

But today, that search is drawing ever nearer a resolution - as a ballot of the club's players, officials, management, sponsors, fans and everyone connected with K&P is held

“We will be handing out ballot papers at the entrance for all supporters and visitors to place their crosses against their choice for our terrace name at tomorrow's game,” Dave Woodruff, commercial manager, told The Journal.

“The search for a terrace name since the amalgamation of Kirkley & Pakefield FC is now reaching a conclusion with the magnificent seven names left in the pot!

“During the past eight weeks we have had names suggested from the public through the Lowestoft Journal, our supporters and management and these listed are the most popular by far,” he added.

The list is as follows alphabetically: The Beachboys, The Drifters, The Oilers, The Riggers, The Royals, The Skippers, The Vikings.
