Unlucky Nick Mobbs was left marooned one run short of his maiden century as Blundeston beat Garboldisham in Lucas Fettes Norfolk League Division Ten.

Mobbs ended Blundeston's innings on 99 not out as the visitors piled up 202 for 4 at Thetford.

Mobbs initially struggled when he got to the crease, as Blundeston looked in trouble at 73-4.

Sam Goffin joined Mobbs and they consolidated the innings and setting a total seemed a long way away from initial hopes and managed to take the total to 119 after 35 overs with Mobbs passing 50 for the second match running.

Mobbs' array of stokes were very pleasing on the eye, especially the three huge sixes and Goffin offered great support and he too played some top shots as the impetus grew and the partnership amassed a new club record 129 to finish on 202-4.

The Garboldisham response started brightly and it needed something special to get the breakthrough and a fine diving catch from Lewis Chapman off dad Mark's bowling was just the lift they needed.

Chapman, stated to make inroads including and finished with 5-37 while Goffin had his best spell for the club in taking 2-22 as Garboldisham managed only 123 all out.

Next match, first at Southtown Common v Felthorpe A, start 2pm.
