JON Walters has his 26th birthday next Sunday, and there are six things he wants between now and then.

'Six points without a shadow of doubt,' said Ipswich Town's star man and goalscorer in Saturday's 3-1 Championship defeat at Middlesbrough.

'We have Nottingham Forest at home and Doncaster away before Sunday, and we have got to go out and do it.

'Tomorrow's home match against Forest is one that we have to win - full stop. No if and buts, we have to do it.

'We have been talking about it for long enough, and now is the time to do the talking on the pitch.

'It was very disappointing against Middlesbrough at the Riverside. We conceded a poor first goal, and human error came into that.

'The player concerned has held his hands up. We moved on and at 1-0 the game was still within our grasp.

'But the second goal took the points away from us - making the next two matches so important.'

Two points from 18 at stake so far this season is not good enough, but Walters saw plenty of positives in the debuts of newcomers Liam Rosenior, Grant Leadbitter and Carlos Edwards.

'They made a big difference and they're three very good signings,' Walters added.

'Their quality will shine through and I'm sure they'll make a big difference and help us climb the table.

'Grant is an excellent Premier League midfielder while Liam and Carlos clicked straight away down the right-hand side. It's very exciting.

'Hopefully people like myself and the strikers can benefit from having them in the team because they push on and get crosses into the box.

'My right-sided position may be up for grabs now, but that is up to the manager and I am happy playing as a striker.'

Despite the poor start, Walters maintains the spirit in the camp is still high.

'Now it's time for the characters in the team to come to the forefront and take the situation by the scruff of the neck,' he said.

'We've got a great opportunity to get some points on the board against Forest and Doncaster.

'They're games at the start of the season we'd have seen as potential wins and hopefully once we get our first victory many more will quickly follow.'
