RAILWAY took to the pitch with three of their regular players missing.

Second team players Becky Ingles, Charlotte Soanes and Helen Sterry stepped up to put in solid performances.

Railway started off strong with their midfield Sian Laurie, Kat Oldman, Claire Ward and Bridgette Wilson passing balls up to the forwards Sophie Wilson and Anna Ribensforth who managed to put plenty of pressure on the Dereham defence.

This, however, was shortlived and Dereham's first goal came when two of their attackers ran down the pitch, losing the Railway defence for a two-on-one against the goal-keeper.

The Dereham attacker took her shot from the edge of the circle to put the ball passed the keeper.

Their second goal came soon after from a similar move and the third goal came from a penalty corner. The ball was passed out to the top of the circle, then back to the near goal post for the waiting Dereham player to deflect passed the Railway defender and into the back of the net.

Railway settled and started to take the game more into the Dereham half.

The second half started exactly the same as the first with Dereham scoring two goals from fast breaks down the pitch and a deflected penalty corner.

Railway never gave up and were eventually rewarded with a goal scored by Sian Laurie.

Soanes, Ingles, Jo Tovey, Kelly Baker and Sterry were constantly under pressure in defence and goalkeeper, Hayley Belsey was kept busy throughout the game.
