Canaries winger Simon Whaley looks set to extend his loan spell at League Two side Rochdale.

Whaley's initial one-month loan deal expires tomorrow and the clubs have been in talks over an extension.

The 24-year-old has made five appearances for Rochdale and scored one goal.

Rochdale boss Keith Hill was keen to keep the former Preston man and is hoping he will remain at the club until November.

Chief Executive Colin Garlick told Rochdale's web site that the relevant paperwork associated with the extension of the loan had been lodged with the FA and the Football League and a response was expected by Monday.

Whaley was signed by former manager Bryan Gunn in the summer, in effect to take over on the right flank from the departed Lee Croft. He made four appearance before Paul Lambert took over and then appeared in the Carling Cup defeat at home to Sunderland and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Brentford - although he didn't finish either.

Whaley is one of two City players out on loan - youngster Kris Renton is with Scottish Division Two side Brechin City until December 31.
