Ross King decides to call it a day as Royals get ready to start pre-season campaign

Kirkley & Pakefield FC commenced their pre-season training last week with first team manager Mark Willis announcing that last season’s assistant player manager Ross King had decided to retire from football.
Ross was held in high esteem at both Kirkley & Pakefield and his previous club Lowestoft Town and all respect his decision and wish him well for the future.
Following that disappointing news Willis has brought in former Lowestoft Town player Carl Poppy to join himself and James Hutchinson as part of the first team management team with Jason Wright joining the club as their new club physio.
On making these announcements Willis said: “It is vital that we provide the players with the right support to give them the opportunity to perform to the best of their ability.”
The Reserves will again have Wayne Twomlow as manager who will have U18’s Youth Team Manager Rob Moore as assistant. The A team will have Matt Lay and Bryan David again in control with Liam and Darren Bryant continuing to run the B team. The Kirkley & Pakefield U18s will be run by Rob Moore and Alan Dale, the club are still looking for any persons interested to be part of the management team for the AFC Royals U18s team.
On the player front apart from leading scorer Ross King’s retirement, the only other notable loss is Nathan Stone who is reported to have joined Anglian Combination Harleston Town and possibly keeper Luis Tibbles. After a season away at Wroxham and Gorleston striker Kyle Baker has rejoined the Royals. Welcomed back after a spell at Bath University is former first team keeper Hayden Rogers who joins fellow keepers Adam Rix and young prospect Liam Bruce vying for the number one jersey, other new signings will be announced in due course. New first team captain succeeding Ross King will be the popular Jack Herbert.
The club commence their pre-season friendlies next Tuesday, July 11 on the 3G Arena against local Anglian Combination Premier team Waveney FC managed by former Royals players George Millington and Stuart Larter. This is followed on the Thursday evening, July 13 with an attractive first team squad friendly on the main Walmer Road pitch against a highly-skilled Norwich City Under 18s Academy team. Both matches have a 7.45pm kick-offs.
