AFTER another enforced break due to the wintry weather, K&P returned to action this week as they collected four league points from a possible six in the Ridgeons League.

And The Royals also benefited from off-the-field developments as they moved up into fourth in the Ridgeons League following the sad demise of one of the original league founder members Harwich & Parkeston.

The Shrimpers were due to travel to take on K&P for the first time this season tomorrow, but unable to raise a team for the trip they pulled out of the league with “immediate effect” on Tuesday.

With their results from this season expunged from the record books, Needham Market have subsequently lost six points while Leiston and CRC have been deducted three points as they've only played Harwich once this season.

K&P have therefore closed the gap on their rivals above them, and with games in hand they can further reduce the deficit.

Tomorrow, Kirkley entertain Felixstowe and Walton in a rearranged game, ahead of a taster semi final showdown on Wednesday evening with Newmarket - with all support Royally welcomed to Walmer Road.

On the foggy fields of Haverhill last Saturday, The Royal Russell Stock “rose regally” to head home an inswinging corner from Andy Key to deservedly equalise in the 90th minute.

And taking this good form into Tuesday evening at Dereham Town, Chris Henderson fired in a four-goal salvo to send a rampant K&P soaring to victory over the Magpies.

Second placed K&P Reserves had a fine 3-0 home win over Stalham on Saturday, to keep the pressure on at the top of Anglian combination division one. There were however defeats for the A and B teams, but the “invincible” tag continues to remain for the unbeaten KP Vets who triumphed 2-1 at Woodbridge on Sunday.

Off the field, tickets for the club's gentleman's evening with Neil “Razor” Ruddock continue to sell rapidly, for a must-see evening of entertainment on Friday, May 7.

Another special event in the club's marquee has also been organised for Sunday, May 16 as All Star Wrestling hits Kirkley!
