A memorable partnership of 277 was the highlight as Southwold put local rivals Blundeston to the sword in Division 2N of the Norfolk League.

After the hosts had slipped to 42-2 Jason Wright and Sam Brooker took complete control, making 131 and 137 not out respectively in a total of 339-3.

That was far too much for a 10-man visiting side who were bowled out for just 55, with Jason Hall taking 6-31. Southwold visit Sprowston B on Saturday.

In Division One Saxlingham piled on the runs against Kirkley & Belton despite Abdul Rehman’s 5-59. Craig Beeden (86), Alex Browne (73) and Joe Lewis (60) were the main contributors in a total of 302-7. K&B batted well in reply but could only get up to 242 (Chris Lambert 55, George Savoury 49, Rehman 45).

It’s a home match tomorrow, with Overstrand the visitors. while Blundeston host Caister in a top versus bottom encounter.
