Three ladies from the Waveney Roller-skating Club took part in the FARS Spring Solo Dance competition which was held at Haywards Heath, and returned home with an array of glittering hardware that matched their sparkling performances.

Michelle Huggins skating in the Intersilver Free dance event to 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend' gave a dazzling performance which was packed full of expressive content and delivered with breathtaking speed and accuracy that left the spectators gasping and gave Michelle the gold medal.

The Preliminary Free Dance event saw Ellen Clough take the silver medal with her performance. Skating to 'That Man', her graceful style to this jazzy number gave an impression of elegant affluence typical of the era.

In the same event Shannen Porter joined Ellen on the podium with the bronze medal. Shannen skated to 'Catch Me If You Can' in her bouncy happy-go-lucky style to this rock-n-roll type of music which suits her so well and had everyone foot-tapping along to yet another extremely enjoyable performance from Shannen.

Shannen and Ellen then teamed up for the Elementary and Preliminary Duos and took ninth place, and joined by Michelle they took eighth place in the Interbronze and Bronze Trios in the Compulsory Dance events.

Once again many thanks must go to Carla Smith and the Denes High School for the use of their training facilities.
