Stalemate for K&P in north Suffolk derby

Kirkley & Pakefield 0, Leiston 0K&P drew their second successive home match 0-0 in the space of just four days against championship favourites Leiston. In a fast and furious end-to-end game, both defences were tested but no goals were conceded on Wednesday night.

In a fast and furious end-to-end game, both defences were tested but no goals were conceded. Justin Fox brought out a good save by Leiston's Bligh after only 30 seconds and at the other end James Rowe brought out a brave save by Robert Woodcock.

James Rowe had another chance when in a good position but screwed well wide after a run into the box on 27 minutes.

A scissor kick by Blake Saker just went over the bar with still no goals at the half time break.

On 50 minutes keeper Bligh was on top form with a one-handed save to deny Nathan Stone. Then on 65 minutes keeper Bligh was injured and after a six minute hold up he was replaced by Alan Wagner, who was rarely tested in the final 30 minutes.

Leiston's David Head hit a post from a difficult angle while a Fox free kick, in a good position for Kirkley, finally tested the keeper with five minutes to go.
