Two goals at the start of each half from the shooting boots of ace marksman Nathan Stone, put paid to understrength holders Lowestoft Town in the Suffolk Premier Cup last night.

The visitors put up a spirited display with a reserve side out on show, but the Royals were good enough to earn the local bragging rights.

K&P were also without Ian Dawson, Russell Stock and Ryan DeCoteau and also lost centre back James Cole who was carried off with ligament damage and is expected to be sidelined for at least a month.

The goal action started, in rainy conditions, on four minutes, with a slide rule pass by Justin Fox to Stone, whose low angle shot beat keeper Tom Marsden all ends up.

Liam Harvey-Cooper, in oceans of space out wide, should have made it 2-0 after 21 minutes, before a smothering save by Marsden denied Stone just before the break.

However, just 30 seconds into the second half, Fox won a corner and the ball reached Stone who blasted in past Marsden and killed off Lowestoft's challenge.

The visitors' best efforts were led by centre forward Christy Finch, who had the best chances in rare raids towards Robert Woodcock's goal.

The Royals' victory set up an away tie at Walsham-le-Willows who they will be meeting for the sixth time in all competitions this season.
