Sunshine League team take centre stage for Kensington Gardens

Pride of place for Kensington Gardens must go to the Sunshine League team who had an impressive 58-37 shot win (6-0) over Beccles Caxton.
The best block for the Gardens was led by M Roberts, supported by A Muffett and F Brown, who won 23-11.
In the Benacre League Waveney were the visitors and thanks to good all found performance were beaten 82-61 (6-1). The best block was M Evans, H Bond and R Bond who won 31-10.
The BE Triples League team also won well against Lowestoft Rail A 77-63 (6-1). J Brooke, R Bond and G Marshall led the way with a 27-14 shot win.
In the Lowestoft & District League the Gardens are still looking for their first win after losing to Sparrow’s Nest 69-76 (1-6). The Gardens’ single point came from the block of R Bond, F Brown and E Le Grice (21-19).
Kessingland A, away to Wrentham A in the Benacre League Division One, lost 62-84 (1-6), Leon Rappenberger, Mick Salmon with Jimmy Summons 18-16 got the point.
In Division Two Kessingland B lost at home to Earsham 52-82 (0-7).
In the Sunshine League things looked a lot brighter with both teams back to winning ways. The Reds, away to Gorleston Cons A, won 73-60, 5-1 (Ann and Laurie Rawlings with Norman Wigg 21-19. Jean Batley, Doreen Cook with Dick Primmett 31-17). The Blues, at home to Earsham, put in a good performance to win 71-47, 6-0 (Bernie Firman, Duncan Armon with Ken Porter 24-15, Barbara Taylor, Adrian Giles with Steve Caird 22-14, Phil Wilmhurst, Christine Daniel and Mike Salmon 22-13).
In the Lowestoft League Kessingland A away to Sparrow’s Nest won 70-76, 5-2 (Nora Rutherford, Angie Staniforth with Steve Cullabine 28-18).
Oulton Broad played Wrentham in the Benacre League and lost 70-80 (1½-5½) after leading at 10 ends. Only B Smith, J Reeve, J Manning (17-16) won for Broad 17-16.
In the Lothingland League Broad beat 109-51, 6-1 (A Buck, V Burfield, G Smith 35-11, P Calvert, R George, J Manning 38-7; R and R Turner, M Last 24-14. In the Bowls England League Broad led after 10 ends but Sparrow’s Nest won 75-65 (6-1). In the Lothingland League Broad lost 67-81 (2-5) to Gorleston Conservatives (M Last, R Graham, L Moore 19-18; A Buck, V Burfield, G Smith 18-16).
