Lowestoft & Oulton Broad Swimming Club travelled to Cambridge to compete in the prestigious Eastern Junior League. Thanks to fine individual performances coupled with some very professional relay swims they finished in a very creditable third position.

Despite the intense competition in this nine to 12-year-olds event, there were personal best times for Alice Watson-Flowers, Isobelle Read, Kai Saunders, Cassie Everill, Jack Whale and two for Leyton Berrey.

The result was achieved with an impressive display of teamwork from all the swimmers, with special thanks going to Charlie Bennett, Harry Collins and Nathan Phillips, who stepped in at the very last minute to replace some ill swimmers.

The afternoon started on a high when, in the first event, the 12-year-old girls four by 25 metre medley relay team of Emma Lines, Lucy Allington, Read and Everill wrote themselves into the record books by breaking the county record which had previously stood for 17 years.

The club recorded four wins in the relays along with individual successes for Leyton Berrey, Read and Allington.

Remaining team members were Lewis Quantrill, Matthew Calver, Logan Moore, Nick Lambarth, Charlie Church, Stanley Collins, Alicia Newark, Lucy Keeler, Molly Allington, Erin Bennett, Rebecca Hardy, Kaitlin Walsh, Isobelle Berrey, Victoria Walker.

Belated congratulations go to Isobelle Berrey, who was recently crowned overall Suffolk County Bagcat 10-year-old champion.

In addition, well done to Owen French, Stanley Collins, Matthew Calver, Allington and Emma Lines for achieving top three bagcat placings in their respective age groups.
