Kirkley & Lowestoft Railway A entertained Costessey at Gunton Park in the first game of the Norfolk League season. Winning the toss Costessey asked K&LR to bat first and on a slow and low pitch, the batsman struggled to score many runs against some steady bowling from the Costessey seamers, with the notable exception of Harry Seago whose determined 28 not out spanned more than half the 41 overs faced by the home side.

He was given dogged support by the later order batsmen and with 33 extras helping out K&LR finished on 96 all-out. Costessey's stand-out bowler was S Horner with 5-34 off 12 overs.

Batting second Costessey struggled from the start of their innings against some fine bowling by skipper Simon Spurgeon who bowled his 12 overs straight through to finish with 1-13 including six maidens, but Danny Thorpe was the destroyer in chief taking 6-17 off nine overs with his off-spin.

The other bowlers Marcus Hayes and Harry Seago kept things tight with Seago finishing off a good day taking the final wicket to finish with 1-11.
