Three boys from Waveney Gymnastics Club took part in the British Elite grades competition, held in Ipswich.

Competitors from all over the country arrived in the various age groups, and these are the very best gymnasts from each age group.

The East are a strong region and many of the competitors will be going to Newcastle at the beginning of May for the National Regional team finals.

In the level 3, competition for boys aged 10 Giarnni Regini-Moran worked very well all through the competition scoring 9.00 on pommels and 8.45 on rings.

Regini-Moran also won three pieces with scores of 9.30 on floor 9.70 on high bar and fantastic vault got the magic 10.00.

His physical preparation score was very disappointing after such a good routine and he finished the day with 63.50 to take the silver medal.

Declan Ayers is the level 4 competitor for eleven year olds and scored 8.10 on floor, 5.60 on pommel and 8.20 on rings, 9.50 with two brilliant vaults, 9.10 on p-bars, 7.35 on high bar and 8.60 on physical preparation.

His total score of 56.40 put him in seventh place in the country and to stay in the top ten for four years is a credit to himself, unfortunately with two falls the deductions are now so harsh it is easy to drop down the order.

Clark Gould was competing at level 5 for twelve-year-olds, but with a fall on his first piece of apparatus, the high bar, which he is normally outstanding in on, the pattern was set for the rest of the competition.

However, he scored 7.70 on floor, 4.30 on pommel, 5.55 on rings, 9.10 on vault, 6.60 on parallel bars, 6.50 0n high bar and 6.80 on physical preparation.

He was ninth in the country for his age group with a score of 47.00, but he must learn quickly from this competition and move on for the future.

All three boys are a credit to themselves, the club, their families and the town, to be placed in the top ten for their various age groups is a massive achievement.
