LOWESTOFT Town ended the season in a blaze of glory with a win which completed a unique double over champions Downham Market.

Batting first, Downham made a useful 173 but were checked by spinner Marcus Bishop, who claimed 5-35 and all rounder Peter Sims with 3-32.

Addam Todd compiled 68 of their runs, but it wasn't enough as Town reached the target with six overs to spare.

At long last they showed some controlled aggression, which was lacking in recent games.

Sims conjured up 62, Johan Mostert took his season's league aggregate to 869 runs with 47 and finally the nail was rammed home in cavalier fashion by Tommy Brice with 31 off 34 balls and 17 not out for Bishop to bring the curtain down on a memorable season.

Lowestoft finished in a creditable third place, while the A team won the Lucas Fettes Norfolk League Division Five title and rounded with a derby victory over Kirkley & Lowestoft Railway A.

Winless K&LR batted first but were restricted to 165-6 thanks to Haverson's 5-34 although D Hayes hit 89.

But Lowestoft claimed victory by three wickets thanks mainly to 66 from Wayne Nixon.

Tomorrow Lakenheath visit Denes Oval, in a friendly with a 1.30pm start.

On Sunday it's the Dads and Lads match when S Baker's team take on a Town side, 1.30pm start.

All the families are invited with a barbecue and raffle taking place on the day.
