A LOWESTOFT teenager was head over heels with joy this week after being crowned as the national champion.

Kirkley High School student Theo Bidmead produced his “best performance” to date according to sports teacher Shona Power, after the talented teen became U19 National Schools Trampolining Champion.

And his latest success has completed a fantastic triple trampolining triumph after becoming the Eastern Regional Schools champion in December, the Central England Champion in January to now be crowned National Champion in Bristol at the weekend.

“The pressure was certainly on after the first round of routines where Theo was leading by only 0.2,” Ms Power said. He was last to go for the second set of routines, and he watched two boys just below him perform good routines so knew he would have to nail his second routine to be crowned champion.”

And this was exactly what the youngster did, as he became national schools champion by a winning margin of 0.3.

“Theo pulled out his best performance to date, well done!” Ms Power said.

“He was sixth nationally last year in the U15 category but has worked hard by training twice a week at school since October.”
