A POPULAR Lowestoft boxing club, which has honed the skills of potential Olympian Anthony Ogogo, is looking forward to a bright new future.

Triple A boxing club has moved into their new club base after extending links with the Nirvana fitness gym based on the south Lowestoft industrial estate.

A fund-raising sponsored run was recently held by the club to highlight the new club links, and help pay for equipment – which includes a new ring.

And pictured here in front of the new ring are the club members, with coaches, sponsors Guy Brown, Keith Newberry and Sam Bemment and Nirvana owner Chris Broadley. With medals handed out to the youngsters who collected lots of sponsorship, a trophy was also awarded to Tyler Goldspink, who collected the most sponsors.

Head coach John Cremin said: “Well done to Tyler Goldspink for the most sponsorship gained. We raised about £800 on the run, and these contributions all go towards paying for the new ring and equipment for the club.”

The youngsters embarked on the two mile sponsored run from the Fisheries to South Pier and back, while the seniors had to do five miles – and they all completed it with ease.

“We’d also like to say thanks to the parents for pushing their children to get the sponsors in,” Cremin added.

“This is our new base for Triple A and many thanks go to Chris Broadley. Chris has been sponsoring myself, Anthony and Charley Davison to use the facilities for about five years, and now we are extending these links.

“At the moment we remain Triple A boxing club, but we are just awaiting ratification from the ABA to change our name to include Nirvana,” Cremin added. “Everything is looking good.“
