AFTER the recent weather obliterated all sports in the past few weeks, K&P will be hoping to make a belated start to their New Year, with an eagerly-awaited trip to Needham Market tomorrow in the FA Vase fourth round.

Weather permitting, The Royals will be aiming for more crowning glory at Bloomfields as they look to continue their best ever run in the national competition at the home of one of their Ridgeons League rivals.

“The Market Men's website states that they are looking for a new nickname, and it's not surprising, as anything with the name Market in the title is fatalistic following last year's Market Crash!” K&P spokesman Royal David said.

“They also spotlighted our new signing Handy Andy Key, stating that he was quality and must be watched at all times - well Market Men, our Mr Key will unlock your defence allowing us a Right Royal win - I predict 2-0.”

For K&P fixture secretary Stuart Baker it has been an equally busy time as he tries to shuffle various permutations for matches - but what is certain, is that if the game does go ahead tomorrow and there is a suitable result inside 90 minutes or after extra time, then K&P will be in Ridgeons League KO Cup action next Tuesday January 19 - weather permitting - at Mildenhall, 8pm kick off.

With the Reserves being encouraged to back their first team squad-mates tomorrow, James Hutchinson's side were due to be in action at Walmer Road tonight (Friday) with an Anglian Combination Division One local derby clash against Sole Bay, kick off 7.30pm, referee P South.

The youth team will be hoping to return to action away at Gorleston, next Wednesday night, 7.45pm KO.

Off the field, the K&P committee have secured matchday sponsorship for all matches to the end of season at Walmer Road, with the new backers joining the silver roll of honour on the K&P website.

“Our Sportsmans Evening is progressing nicely, with bookings coming in and enquiries from companies that have never attended in the past!” Royal David said.

Neil "Razor" Ruddock and comedian Russ Williams will entertain on what has been described as “a must attend event” on Friday May 7 2010.

“Cost is £40 per head, with tables of eight or 10 accommodated - we have already sold 20 tables out of a maximum 32!” Royal David said.

“We have the marquee for a fortnight, and we have just three days when it is not being used so contact me on 01502 741588, if your company could make use of a heated, lighted, area which will hold 300.”
